Our Shopify SEO services help small store owners fix the things Shopify leaves to them, so more shoppers searching Google find your products and collections. SEO Expert Marketing is a newly launched agency, and we work online with small firms in the USA, UK, Canada and Australia. Most of our focus is on WordPress sites, and our SEO services for Shopify use the same monthly plans as any other website.

What Shopify already does for your SEO
Out of the box, Shopify:
- Creates a sitemap.xml file listing your products, collections, pages and blog posts.
- Generates a robots.txt file; the default one keeps search engines out of carts and checkout.
- Adds canonical tags, so duplicate pages point to one main address.
- Builds product structured data into its own themes, and lets you edit titles, meta descriptions and URL handles without code.
That's a head start, not a finished job. Shopify can't choose your keywords, write your collection pages or stop a theme or app from undoing its defaults. Shopify SEO services fill that gap.
The Shopify limits worth knowing
Fixed URL paths
Products sit under /products/ and collections under /collections/. You can change the handle, the last part of the address, but not those folders, which Shopify's Help Center calls "fixed Shopify paths". So the useful work is short, clear handles and safe redirects, not a new structure.
Duplicate collection and product URLs
A product can also load at a longer address such as /collections/summer/products/linen-shirt. Shopify's documentation for the within filter, which themes use to build those links, cautions that both addresses show the same content on separate URLs.
A canonical tag normally points the longer version back to /products/. But if your collection pages link to the longer address, your own links send Google a mixed message, and Google's guidance is to link to the canonical version. We check both the tags and the links.
Redirects only work from broken addresses
Shopify only redirects an old address once it stops loading a page. When you rename a handle or delete a product, add a redirect at the same time, or shoppers and Google hit a "Page not found" error.

Theme speed and apps
Shopify's Help Center names your theme and your installed apps among the biggest factors in store speed. Every app that loads scripts on your storefront adds weight, and uninstalling an app doesn't automatically remove its code from your theme.
Editing robots.txt
Shopify's robots.txt documentation says the default file works for most stores. The Help Center warns that a mistake in a custom version can cost a store all its search traffic, and that Shopify Support can't help with those edits. Change it only for a clear reason, and save a copy first.
What our Shopify SEO services review and improve
Within our monthly plans, these are the areas we'd review on a Shopify store. Your written proposal sets the split: what we take on, what your developer handles, and the access we'd need.

- Search Console: verify the store, submit your sitemap and work through the Page indexing report.
- Listings: titles and meta descriptions for products, collections and pages. Themes usually add your store name to each title, so keep the rest short.
- Collection pages: match each one to the searches it should answer (see keyword research) and give it a short, helpful introduction.
- Product copy and images: descriptions in your own words, and alt text that describes each photo.
- Internal links: menus and collection grids that point to /products/ addresses.
- Structured data: product markup tested after any theme switch, since a third-party or custom theme may not include it.
- Speed: unused apps, leftover app code and oversized images, checked in Shopify's Web performance report, which uses 30 days of real visitor data.
- Pages to hide: Shopify's Help Center lists three ways to keep a page out of search: the Unlisted status for products, an seo.hidden metafield, or a noindex tag in the theme.
- Blog posts: buying guides on your store's blog that answer pre-purchase questions and link to collections.
Whoever does the work, Shopify advises duplicating your theme as a backup before editing its code. It also lets you add users with only the permissions they need, so there's no reason to share the owner login. For store advice that isn't Shopify-specific, see our ecommerce SEO page.
When Shopify SEO help makes sense
Shopify SEO services make sense if:
- You sell from your own Shopify store and want more visits from Google, not only from ads and social media.
- You've renamed products, deleted items or switched themes, and aren't sure what broke.
- Your store feels slow after adding and removing apps over time.
They can wait if your store is still behind its password page, since search engines can't see it yet, or if most of your sales happen on marketplaces rather than your own storefront. On WooCommerce? See our WordPress SEO page.
What Shopify SEO services cost with us
Shopify SEO services use the same three monthly plans as our other work, with prices in USD. Here's where to start:
| Your store | Plan to look at first | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A few collections, mostly needing fixes and better listings | SEO Starter, $395/month | Initial SEO audit, SEO content, website repairs, GA4 and Search Console, 5 tracked keywords |
| Several collections competing for similar searches | SEO Growth, $795/month | Adds competitor analysis, keyword research and mapping, internal linking, 15 tracked keywords |
| A large catalog in a crowded market | SEO Authority, $1,495/month | Adds content-gap and backlink analysis, 30 tracked keywords and a weekly report |
Your written proposal confirms the Shopify tasks, the access needed and the price before you commit. Every plan's items are listed side by side on our SEO packages page.
Only need one job done? Our $59 Full SEO Audit reviews your store's homepage and up to 10 key pages, and the $199 Technical SEO Fix Pack fixes up to 10 technical issues on a Shopify store. See every fixed price on our SEO price list.

How soon Shopify SEO services show results
Google's SEO Starter Guide is candid about timing: the effect of a change can appear in a few hours or take several months, so allow a few weeks before you judge what worked.
Listing edits and redirect fixes are quick to make. New collection copy needs time to be crawled and trusted, and a speed fix can take a month to show fully in Shopify's 30-day report. We can't promise rankings, but each report shows what we changed and how your keywords and organic traffic moved.
Questions to ask any Shopify SEO agency or expert
Whether you hire a Shopify SEO agency, a freelance Shopify SEO expert or us, ask:
- Will you edit my theme code, and will you duplicate the theme first?
- Which apps would you add, and what do they load on my pages?
- Can your access be a user account with limited permissions?
- How will you handle redirects when handles change?
The right answers depend on your store, so ours are set out in your written proposal.
